No, you see, it doesn’t work like this, let me tell you how it does. They try to pretend like Loki is a poor misunderstood child - so we know their moral views are kinda screwed up a bit. You try to tell ‘em to shut the fuck up - so we know that you have little patience for other people’s opinions and mistakes. What a real power is…

So, here I am, making Russian subtitles for The Avengers… I mean, I’ve found two versions already and both are screwed up here and there, so I make some kind of a patchwork from them, adding my own translation in the places where both versions are lame. Because, you know, the Stuttgart scene HAS to sound as beautiful and cadenced as it does in English, it’s fucking important. Well, where was I - oh yes, here I am, juggling with words, and then this “kneel!” line comes and all of a sudden I feel my heart throbbing in my throat. You know, since I’m working with the text files and therefore am not distracted by the visual, I can feel the power of these lines, and let me tell you, it’s VERY underappreciated. It’s a very strong, very well-written script, girls and boys, and my newfound love for Joss Whedon is positively blooming right now. 

By the way, if there are some Russian fans out there (and I know you are, I’ve seen you on tumblr) who need correct, coherent, nice and pretty Russian subs for this glorious movie - let me know. “It would be my genuine pleasure.”
